If you can't beat them...

Curdworth Bottom Lock

Another day like yesterday weatherwise.  Spells of sun and spells of cloud but not as cold.  The wind chill was considerably reduced.  Yet again no locks as the canal makes its way through very flat arable land.  Suddenly for no apparent reason, the Coventry canal becomes the Birmingham and Fazely canal, seamlessly.  The reason may not be apparent but it is owing to the way the fact that the Coventry Canal Company ran out of money so the B & F joined and continued north.  Then when things improved the Coventry Canal Co brought the canal down from the Trent & Mersey to join the Birming Ham and Fazely.  The major noticeable difference is the bridges stop being numbered and have nameplates instead.

At Fazely Junction we could have turned left and been back on the Coventry canal.  Instead, we chose to turn right, after having filled up the water tank, heading down the Birmingham and Fazely canal.  We tied up between Curdwoth bottom lock and common lock after another day of enjoyable cruising in nice dry weather.
