The Ride Home

Before we took off around 9:00 am, I captured a photo of my sister’s hellebore. Hopefully, there will still be open blooms when we return. Thought I’d share a few scenes of small town America from the trip home. We passed farms with newborn animals. One calf seemed to be learning to stand and walk but it was too far away for a photo. Being WV, the roads were quite curvy, with speed limits as low as 15 mph due to hairpin curves. We took the route with the best roads which meant we met large trucks on barely two lane roads. I am much calmer now than when we first visited the farm. With the melting snow, the creeks were full and we saw a few waterfalls. When we made a quick stop at the first Maryland rest area, we photographed part of a lake that looked pretty reflecting the blue sky. We shopped at the market/candy store and found a few unique items for Easter baskets. We stopped for a view of the C&O canal in Hancock, MD, the town with the bakery where we get Parker’s thank you gift for kitty watching. (We found Brooklyn’s gift the day we went to town with my sister.) I included a view of that small town main street. I am too nervous to go on the Washington beltway so we take smaller roads. The alternate route was jam packed today with oncoming traffic because they are widening the highway from two to four lanes and we were traveling that road during rush hour. It is still better than the 6-8 lane beltway of crazy drivers. When we get to the top of the Solomon’s bridge (center photo), we can almost see our neighborhood in the distance. While we were away, a man fleeing police drove to this bridge and jumped, the fourth person in the last few months. So utterly sad. We had to grab a few groceries first and pulled into our driveway around 7:30. The Lord answered our morning prayers. We got home safely and saw no accidents along the way. Hopefully, my sister and BIL will have a trip as pleasant. Thanks for visiting, leaving so many stars, hearts and kind comments. Praying the world leaders will make the correct decisions to bring peace to Ukraine. Stay safe. “There’s nothing half so pleasant as coming home again.” - Margaret E. Sangster
