Back to see the herons!

Thursday
Our warm sunny weather continues, and we hoped that with four or five days of dry warm weather, the paths at Long Branch Farm would have dried out somewhat, and we would be able to see the herons back in their nests. This turned out to be the case, and with the aid of binoculars, we were able to detect 9 or 10 occupied nests, a few, as in my blip, quite clearly, but several you could just make out a head above the top of the nest. Bird song was much in evidence, and we also saw a small slim snake ( see extra).
This evening was choir practice. We were missing a few people, particularly men, as well as our usual pianist/organist, Tom, who had another engagement. Our director had brought along his daughter-in-law to play for us - they’re a very musical family! It makes me rather sad that only Laura of our three children has kept up their interest in music.
