Edinburgh Life,

I dropped Pat off at the Scottish Arts Club in Rutland Square and then headed to the Botanical Gardens for a walk about where I took some 40 photographs.

The sign in the thumbnail reads "Cleanse Your Soles". Not a Biblical exhortation but an instruction to dip your shoes into the very shallow, but wet disinfectant mats across the gate.

This procedure is required when entering and leaving the gardens. This is the East Gate. Everybody follows the instruction.

I am pleased that my soles remained quite liquid proof and I spread no nasty bugs.

Pat and I met after her studio time and we headed of to Costco. The first time in two years. The building is large and well ventilated. Covid procedures are everywhere. We felt very safe.

The rapidly rising price of petrol is of concern to everyone, however Costco retails petrol about 10 pence per litre below the prevailing price.

Edinburgh roads continue to be a challenge with road closures, unusual street furniture and the most obscure lane markings which lead to some bizarre road layouts.

I now use the car navigation system which is very adept at recalculating the route, and leading us through some unknown areas. It is all an adventure,

This is illuminated in the evening with LED street lighting which is not up to the task, leaving patches of unlit road. Of course, there are potholes galore.

Before heading for home, we had supper with Mr and Mrs Dog.
