Marischal College

There was time when Aberdeen had 2 Universities, Kings (Catholic) and Marischal (Protestant). Eventually they joined forces to become Aberdeen University.
This huge and ornate granite building is Marischal College. It used to house the departments of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Geology, Engineering, Natural History (Zoology), the science library, and two museums, anthropology and Zoology. Now it is leased to Aberdeen City Council who use it for offices.
Last night the college was lit up to celebrate St Patrick's day..
