Old Windmill Site -- 'De Schorsmolen', Breda

Exactly between the shortest building in the shot and the one slightly higher right next to it (with the glass facade), and then a little bit at the back of this, stood an old windmill, rebuilt in 1750 but demolished in 1838.  That means that the original one was logically even older, but there are no records of its year of construction.  It was most likely hit by lightning in 1749, and thus rebuilt in 1750, but a change of ownership of the piece of land or property on which it stood motivated its owner, the miller himself, to tear it down.  This same miller then 'rebuilt' it in Leur, but the style of the windmill in Leur differed, and so cannot be considered to be the 'same' windmill.

Cycled to this spot as the weather was just wonderful!  At home, the usual activities, and in the evening, AW drove to Sweed's and Benna's for live bridge, which should have been tomorrow evening but was moved to tonight because Lavinia has other social obligations tomorrow.

Fab day!
