The Bay

The warmest day of the year so far - 15C - and signs of Spring all around. We have seen our first butterflies (including brimstones), heard our first chiffchaffs, looked at our first celandines, and eaten lunch outside in the warm sunshine (whilst watching a small bat, presumably a pipistrelle, foraging around the trees).

The image is of the sands - or muds - of Morecambe Bay. The Bay was sparkling silvers in the bright sunlight. To my eyes it looks like the surface of some alien world. It’s a place of creeks and quicksands, and the haunting calls of the many waders which feed on the rich invertebrate life below the surface.
