British India Line at Edinburgh Waverley

It would had to have been a very special photo to stop today’s blip being this magnificent locomotive as it arrived at Edinburgh this afternoon on a charter from Preston.

I’d read about the train in the Heritable Railway magazine last week and saw it coincided with when we were in Edinburgh. We all went to see the train arrive then spent some time admiring the loco and carriages especially the Pullman cars. It was a real treat to see especially as big locos don’t feature on the KESR.

After lunch we took in the Greyfriars Kirk, paying our respects to Bobby of course. The place was full of Harry Potter Tours. I would have found the place rather dismal on a wet late winter afternoon but in the spring sunshine it wasn’t such a problem.

We endured a long wait for a bus that was supposed to be only 15 minutes away. More like 40 when it came.

Back in Balerno we enjoyed the last of the sunshine with a brisk walk in clear hard evening light up to the reservoirs and back. Having a drink and nibbles now. Two games of rugby gone, one huge surprise one not and one to go.
