A view from Jeanneb

The big hole -

is still here!

I don't go into Bradford very often but today I had the opportunity to sing in a John Bell workshop at the Cathedral. It was a Royal School of Church Music event followed by a short service. John Bell is from the Wild Goose Iona Community and as well as teaching us some of his amazing music he led the service of Evensong, very different from the usual.

To get there from the station we crossed this area known as the Big Hole. At the back you can see some of Bradford's old buildings including the Old Post Office and immediately behind it you can see the tower of the Cathedral. This hole has been here since they cleared a '60s development in 2005 to create a new shopping centre. It is 'supposed' to go ahead this year. (I actually took this by peeping through the fence as an Urban Garden has been made in front of it as it has been here so long!)

The Cathedral itself is a lovely building, quite small as Cathedrals go but a real hidden gem and well worth a visit. It is 500 years old and is the third place of worship in this site.

The only good thing about this hole is that it has given Bradford a view of it's Cathedral.
