Life in Sunny Dubai

Connecting Minds, Creating the Future **

** This is the EXPO 2020 theme.

We had an early start to the weekend, driving up to the EXPO 2020 site to visit the Rotary office. On our last visit, we had made enquiries about Rotary's presence in the UAE for Jeff and Margaret. Today, we met up with them for a breakfast that Rotary members have hosted every Saturday during EXPO. Today was the last one, and it was very well attended. The little space they occupied in the Dubai Cares building was buzzing!

My blip is a glimpse of the day. We finally found the Democratic Republic of Congo pavilion. It is the last of the small pavilions to visit. Only 12 countries are now left to see which we should be able to do on Monday!

For the few hours we were there, we caught a street parade, went into the L'Oreal pavilion and enjoyed a leisurely drink (juice/tea) in Kazakhstan's restaurant. We also bought fresh coffee beans from El Salvador's store in the World Souq. On our way back to the car, we managed to bypass a long queue to (finally) check out the Women's Pavilion. It was the first time G's seniors' badge worked today (we had to queue to enter in the morning). I am pleased to report the exhibit, which is sponsored by Cartier, was as good as the recommendations we'd heard about it. Both parties chose the Sustainability car park, so we walked out together!
