Quod oculus meus videt

I was at the offices at the weekend to support training for taxi drivers today.  At the end of the training I took advantage of another lovely day's weather and sent up the drone to get a few images of the newly completed Refurbishment of the buildings.  The grey roofed extensions to the north, adjacent to the road are new and are occupied by the library, a children's nursery and a foot care clinic.  The whole of the site has more than a dozen businesses leasing space as well as a doctor's surgery, the NHS, County Council Social Care teams and Staffordshire Police.

While the new way of working is agile, with hot desking and hybrid working arrangements I think it still demonstrates the reduction in the number of staff working in local authorities after more than 10 years of austerity.  Employees of the council used to take up all of the office space across three floors of the red brick main wings of the office complex in the foreground.  The left most wing was constructed in the early 1990s to accommodate additional staff to administer the new community tax regime.  We will soon just have the upper floor of the central and right hand wings for staff to use when in the office!

It is still a tremendous achievement that the work was completed on time, despite all of the work having been carried out during the last two years.

I used the DJI Mini II to capture the images, an amazing piece of kit, less than 250 grams in weight, which can be flown in these built up areas with care.  I'm actually over the car park area and well away from any housing or people.
