Sky likes to sit on the back of the sofa from where she can see the comings and goings in our front garden. This afternoon she was relaxing with just one eye open when suddenly she was up onto the windowsill, ears forward, tail quivering - she had seen the local ginger tom crossing our drive before disappearing into our neighbours' garden. She wasn't pleased. She patrolled the windowsill for a while but ginger didn't reappear. Eventually one-eyed sleep was resumed. It made us smile, which is a blessing in these grim times.

We took some time out this morning to watch the memorial service for the Duke of Edinburgh. It's amazing that the Queen still manages to do these events at nearly 96 years of age and I appreciate her will and determination but I have to say she did look rather frail and lonely this morning.
