The Lozarithm Lens

Lower Compton (Tuesday 29th March 2022)

I made a return visit to Honeyball recycling centre to finish emptying the trailer, and again went on to Hills Pools, up the road in Lower Compton. The swans were there but on the far side of the pool, so I turned my attention to these catkins. I also took a shot of what I take to be some reedmace (in Extras).

Thanks to JDO for hosting Tiny Tuesday.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Marvelettes - My Baby Must Be A Magician (recording completed 29 March 1967; lead vocal added 11 September 1967, Detroit MI)
Marvelettes: Wanda Rogers (ld vcl) with the Andantes (vcl) and the Funk Brothers, Marv Tarplin (gtr) and Melvin Franklin (bass vcl)
Recorded on this day in 1967, apart from the lead vocal by Wanda Rogers, who became the full-time lead singer of the Marvelettes after encouragement from their producer Smokey Robinson. He wrote this song for her, when their other main singer, Gladys Horton, left to get married. Wanda Rogers was the only true member of the girl group on the record as Motown's all-purpose session singers, The Andantes, performed the backgound vocals on this, aided by Melvin Franklin from the Temptations who did the deep bass vocals. This album version is slightly longer than the single.
