By early afternoon nearly the snow in the garden had gone but only four miles away it was quite different.  The intensity of the snow showers last night varied very much between areas which were close together.  To the east of a local village the fields had no snow yet less than a mile to the west the fields were white and it was evident that there had been a lot of snow.  We were very fortunate on our walk as heavy showers passed to the north and to the south but we had only a little.
