Are British birds boring

A study of bird colours around the world has claimed that British birds are generally less colourful than their counterparts in other parts of the world. In general that may have some truth to it. We have quite a lot of little brown ones.
But it would be hard to better a Kingfisher or a male Bullfinch.

I cannot illustrate my comments with the latter, but here for your pleasure is a female Bullfinch. An example of British restrained good taste.

We have just moved our garden bird feeders to a better place and it was one of the first visitors.


One follower says he thinks it looks like a male. Any other opinions ?
