A Spring Day in Hoy

A forty-five mph wind from the worst airt (South East) is a show stopper for most of Orkney.  It has been a truly atrocious day.  The ferry from Stromness to the Hoy Pier was cancelled (no surprise there).  The boat from Lyness back to Houton was off for some time of the day; with what was described (online) as a ‘major oil leak’.   We nearly had to invoke the spirit of Roy Plomley (don’t forget you can’t be Wong)  but eventually we managed across without having to row.
Planned activities for the reopening of the Kirk have had to be postponed until next week.  I know so many of you had planned to be there.

The carpet fitters are arriving the morn.
