Stinking Iris

F and I went for a walk in the hills above Oswestry.  We saw some remaining seed heads of Stinking Iris.  The plant has a number of names including Roast beef plant and Stinking Gladwin.  It is so named because the leaves are supposed to smell of rotting beef.  It has these beautiful orange seed heads during winter so it was good to see them this late on.  In the summer they will have small purple flowers.
