Stepover

This morning I went for a walk with the walking group.  Sixteen of us turned up and we went from Ellesmere along lanes, field and canal.

The blip is of an old green lane that has always been a footpath. After being on the definitive map, a mistake was made and the lane was left off. The landowner wanted it to cease being a footpath and blocked the entrance.  He went to court to have it legally removed after the canal authority put a gate on their end of the lane but he lost the case.

The landowner was annoyed and has left lots of fallen branches etc. on the path which need climbing over or walkers  have to deviate through a field to get past.  Our group moved some of them to make the lane a bit more accessible.

On the way back along the canal we saw a rat swimming alongside us then climbed out and disappeared into the undergrowth.  If you like rats there is a photo in extras.
