Ten Little Ducklings

Jack heron was standing in the exact spot, amongst the tangle of bogbeans and bulrush haulms, where I first saw the ducklings yesterday. (Extras) I feared the worst, thinking that he'd had ducklings for breakfast. I noticed that he has a sort of growth at the top of his bill.

When Ollie dog and I went for our afternoon walk I was relieved and delighted to see the mother duck and all of her ten ducklings swim into view.
