A day in the life

Nostalgia

One of my big musical heroes when I was young was a Swedish artist, writer, pianist and entertainer called Povel Ramel. He composed 960 songs during 1945-2000. He worked for radio, tv, stage, books and recordings in a cabaret tradition, with his musical roots in jazz but he was at home in any tradition, often using satire in his music and lyrics.

His children, Mikael and Lotta, are carrying his his heritage and songs to the stage today and accompanied with a genius base player they performed at Kalmar theatre with a program celebrating their fathers music. All Swedes, now between 60 and 80 knows many of his songs by heart. I had the privilege to be the sound technician for their two shows at Kalmar theatre. The concerts were sold out and we all had a pleasant nostalgia session together, singing along with the tunes and remembering "the good old days". Povel performs a song about his right and left hands that maybe can be understood without knowing Swedish.

We've had the most gorgeous spring day today, where my Easter lilies, Daffodils, exploded into action (extra).
