(Der) Karfreitag/Good Friday

Freitag  = Friday as any fule kno.
Kar is not so easy.  It comes from the old high German "chara" which means (die "Wehklage" which in English means lamenting or lamentations.  Or it does as far as I understood it.  I'm prepared to be corrected.

It was a very low key Friday - I tried to sleep but it just isn't possible for me to sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch.  I was awake for about 6 hours during my regular day and then I had to lie down.  Out like a light, and 90 minutes later back to being awake.

I've decided to take sleep when I can get it.  I'm too tired to do anything else.
