Everyday I Write The Book

Love day

Our anniversary. 28 years today since our first date and our relationship is as fresh as a dozen daisies in a field of green grass.

Kicked off by not getting out of bed until 11am. Brunch consisted of fried mashed potato on toast with a mix of sautéed field mushrooms and vegan bacon topped off with baked beans. By then we had already sorted out our flights to Barcelona next Thursday and done some day trip planning, so it wasn’t all idleness and luvvie reminiscence.

We went to London and camped out in the roof garden of the South Bank Centre. Met up with The Dizzzle hotfoot from an early shift, and managed to do a jug of Pimms and a few beers whilst soaking up the sunshine. Fell into conversation with an Irishman who was on his first trip here to play Gaelic Football, and a bunch of south Londoners of Indian heritage who admired my waistcoat and asked my opinion about travelling to Mumbai to see aged relatives. I said just do it. They might be dead this time next year. This answer seemed to please them.

Walked down to London Bridge and had an anniversary meal in Mallow. Average service but superb food.  Three courses with wine and coffee, service included, £50 per head. Fortunately we had a voucher from The Yoga Mama which took care of most of it.

Rolled home at 11pm tired but very very happy.

We had a very touching moment by the river at one point today. One of those occasions when time seems to stop and all you know is the feeling of love, the smell of your soul mate’s hair and their arms around your waist. The food, sun and laughter were great but this will my abiding memory memory of a love which started twenty eight years ago with a kiss.

Fabulous day.
