Wall

In my first blip I talked about an interest in paths. Having thought more about it, it's any linear mark in (or on) the landscape that attracts my attention.

This wall is a serious statement. It's one of the widest walls on the peninsula and ends on a cliff above Dunmanus Bay. It always fascinates me because of its feeling of serious intent and the way in which it follows the contour of the ground.

It marks the western boundary of land that probably once belonged to the ancient 'Bardic School' in Faranamanagh - 'The Lands of the Monks'. Just beyond is a mysterious lake lying behind an impressive natural bank of beach pebbles and home to swans featuring in a romantic mythic tale as the souls of drowned Spanish princes.
