Steep

Easter backblip 3

The weather forecast was reasonable, so a walk was decided upon. It was late morning by the time we'd got ourselves organised and set off for the Grey Mare's Tail in Dumfries and Galloway, about 90 minutes' drive away.

We've all been to the waterfall before, but Lucy hadn't previously been up to Loch Skeen. The track to the loch is quite steep and it took well over an hour to walk there, though I'm sure the others could have done it much more quickly. MrM was quite keen to go up to the summit of White Coomb and around the ridge above the loch, but there's no way I could have managed that in the remaining hours of daylight! Instead, we decided to circumnavigate the loch. It's a very pleasant walk despite the boggy bits - we all ended up with muddy trousers - and none of us got our feet wet crossing the stream!

By the time we got down to the van and back home, it was way too late to cook the planned meal but no matter - we all enjoyed pizza (purchased from the local shop en route) accompanied by a glass or two of red. A perfect end to the day!
