Razorbills

Easter backblip 4

Lucy was really keen to take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins. It seemed a good idea, and the forecast for today was good so, last night, Tom booked tickets.

The sea was quite choppy on the 50-minute trip to Inner Farne, where we went onshore for an hour. So many beautiful sea birds - puffins, guillemots, shags, and all sorts of gulls. The hour flew past! The razorbills had to be Blip of the day - it's the first time I've ever seen any. Puffins and a nesting shag are extras.

Back on the boat for a trip round some of the other Farne islands. Lots of grey seals in the water, and birds on the cliffs. Then back towards the shore and along the coast back to the harbour at Seahouses.

What a fabulous way to spend a sunny afternoon!
