Back Again

First voluntary shift of the season for me at YorkGate today.
I should have been here on the first day of April when the garden opened for the season but l had Covid.
Seems a lot of other volunteers had it too in the past few weeks.
Very busy this morning but so quiet this afternoon so l was pleased l had taken a book and enjoyed sitting in the little sunroom. Was brought out my complimentary flat white and a slice of Bakewell tart ( so rich and moist that l have brought half of it home with me).
One sad not was that the beautiful weeping copper beech tree that acted as a canopy over the little sunroom was struck in two by one of the winter storms and has had to be removed. The huge trunk has been cut into three and made into stands to park cycles, very innovative.
Didn’t have time to look round the garden as l had to be somewhere after l had finished but l did grab a shot of Admissions across the relatively new Mediterranean and sunken garden , a few customers on the balcony outside the tearoom too.

Thank you to all who looked up and followed Max_Blazer ( in Ukraine ) after l mentioned him on Monday x
