Living the Life

Today we finally gave Sam his birthday gift for the last three years - to pilot a cabin cruiser on the Alqueva.

It was a gorgeous day - very windy, which made the water choppier than we've ever seen it, but warm sunshine and no rain. We chugged along to the jetty at Alqueva beach (here, with pink rock roses), where Deb cooked our hamburgers and sausages, and we sat on the deck with glasses of wine, pretending to be rich (not quite on the Russian level, mind)!

Mike and I even had a good nap in one of the cabins. Extra of the joy of the day.

Gratefuls:
- this plan working out
- Sam doing a great job and not crashing!
- finding a bar open (with a very grumpy proprietor) at last; everything seems to have closed down after Easter, for beers and ice-creams
