Autumn colours

A mix of DIY (helping Mr B buy the right things to fit the roof) and gardening today. It became apparent pretty early in our shopping trip that you can't buy lead flashing easily here. So, an adhesive bitumin substitute was found and a slightly long trip to another branch of our builders merchant made for the ply to form our new wall. Mr B then got on with the tricky roof stuff (our plumber had helpfully routed a downpipe through a hole in our roof that is directly above the electrical panel (fuses, etc). Mr B spent most of the day diverting the downpipe, rearranging and replacing tiles and resealing all the joins and corners. Hopefully we can now permanently eject the fungus from our electricity cupboard and not live in fear of fire every time it rains.

Meanwhile, I planted stuff: rasps and strawberries, and some nasturtiums and sweet peas to mask the slight ugly garden fence. I also slug-proofed (I hope) the coldframe with bin bags and duck tape. That'll be an end to their night-time nibbling.

This heuchera is due for planting up tomorrow. When we are due even more of a scorcher than today (but after that it will rain just in time for our delayed carneval celebration.)
