Bee-fly

A little smaller than my subject yesterday! I first of all heard, then spotted this bee-fly hovering around the redcurrant bushes whilst I was out in the garden. So I nipped in to grab my camera! I set a wide aperture to try and get a fast shutter speed and I am pretty pleased with the frozen motion! I managed half a dozen shots and this is the best - there is another one of it departing in extras. Now I had heard of bee-flies before, but I don’t think I have ever actually seen one - so I had to check that it was - and I am fairly confident I have identified it correctly (not sure what species it is though).

Amazing that the autofocus was able to latch onto it and hold it!!

If you have time, do look LARGE :-)
