The Magic Goes Away

We still don't exactly know what happened but for three loaves, the breadmaker produced a brick.  Typically, this happens at exactly the moment I need to produce a batch of bacon butties at 6:30am.

The freezer is now empty of emergency bread slices.

Subsequent experiments suggest that part of the packet of yeast was defunct despite being well in date.  Dumping the top half of the packet and running again, everything turned out fine.
