The Daily Fox ...

Some rather lovely birds ..

Today was my bird group day, so off we went to North Cliffe Wood. It was incredibly windy, and the sandy soil was blowing off the fields and mounting up on the road - it was like being in a sandstorm!

As the season is so late this year there were fewer species than anticipated, but we had a good haul - chiffchaff, willow warbler, great spotted woodpecker, linnet, green woodpecker, tree creeper, marsh tit and a young grass snake!

In the afternoon I went to North Cave Wetlands and had a fab time talking to lots of lovely, helpful birders and saw yellow wagtail, pied wagtail, little ringed plover, redshank, meadow pipit, black tailed godwit, avocets, greylags, pintail ducks, gadwall - all sorts of ducks and geese and gulls - fabulous!
