Crests Best On Nests Not Vests

I visited Fishers Green just before the gates closed this evening specifically to get a shot of my Great Crested Grebes. I met my Greylag goose family on the way, sadly minus one gosling since last night. :(

There was only one grebe in evidence, sat firmly on the nest, which I know contains at least one egg. The pic I took yesterday was actually a better shot but that's Blip for you. Best to be current. :) It would be fantastic to be able to capture a stripy-headed grebelet eventually.

So pleased that these birds are no longer hunted for their crests, which used to be used to adorn undergarments.
