1940s Shopping Basket

And no, before you ask, I don’t remember any as I wasn’t alive then! A very interesting picture, with a number of brands that are still around. It’s notable that fewer colours were used, lower quality cardboard, and less printing ink  because of the War. Also some things sound really odd, for example, what are liquid silk stockings? And some surprising things, like mashed potato powder long before we had Smash. This is another jigsaw from the Robert Opie collection at the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising in London.

This morning I walked into town for a paper and loaf, then continued sealing my paving, which I’ll finish tomorrow. Surprisingly that means I’ve walked 31,460 steps so far.
