Euphorbias on Plot 161

This is a photo of euphorbias on one of our neighbours plots at the allotments. There are many clumps of this particular species dotted around the whole area which I presume have self seeded in the past many years ago.

It was a lovely sunny morning so I took a friend who had come to visit to the allotment cafe. She was amazed that we had a cafetière for two and two pieces of very nice homemade cake for a total of £5! The cafe is run by volunteers who also make the cakes and are just reimbursed for the cost of the ingredients.

After coffee we had a Question Time session for plotholders to ask some of the more ‘expert’ gardeners questions . As my autumn fruiting raspberries have not been very productive for two years, and are not shooting properly yet this year, I asked for advice as to whether it was just because of the dry summers. The answer was best to root them out and start again….so I am glad we have not wasted  any time weeding them as in the previous years it took ages and can now just dig them up.
