Sycamore bud

Saturday felt like a busy day, though the number of jobs ticked off by the end of it was not, by any normal standards, very impressive. Still, a large (and very hard to cut) Crown Prince squash which has overwintered in the pantry is now cut up, diced and in the freezer ready to be be made into several batches of soup; and the second greenhouse is clear and ready for washing, with all the pots, trays, sticks and the like sorted by size and type and, for now, stacked under the outside table and in a corner of the deck. I left it too late to catch the light on the rather lovely, trailing green flowers on the sycamore, but beside the road I found buds and newly opened leaves glowing in the low sun.

The day's exciting news is that this evening Coventry Phoenix film festival awarded J their Phoenix Rising award for her animation Unbound. It's the only award they give other than Best Film, so a real honour, and of course she is thrilled. Lots of late night social media followed!
