One Street: Making Progress

The construction on the corner of Harris Avenue and 11th Street in Fairhaven, which will house three local businesses, is inching slowly toward completion. You may remember the unusual round window on the right, just past the 1891 Knights of Pythias building.

A Lot of Flowers, a beloved plant and related giftware shop that occupied this corner space for more than 20 years, is already in its new digs just out of sight in today's photo. The highly successful Rocket Donuts store in downtown Bellingham, with a vintage science fiction ambiance and delicious donuts (high praise from me, as I'm not a donut fan), will open a second store in this new building in early May.

Adding to the appeal, Rocket Donuts will also open a new venture, Fat Pie Pizza Restaurant, in the building. If you scroll down in this article, you'll see an attractive artist's rendition of the finished project.

(Speaking of pizza, we had an unusual one at La Fiamma tonight -- you can read about it, and see my commissioned small quilt up above the sofa, in Phil's journal.)
