Redpoll

A quick afternoon visit to the nearby Mosses. Just a 20 minute journey but that is all it took for a thick, dark cloud to hide the sun. The result was that the Green Hairstreak butterflies which are there at the moment immediately went into hiding.
But through the telescope it was possible to see both the male and female Ospreys. One on the nest and one perching on a branch.
So it was good to see this Redpoll. I find it hard to distinguish between the Lesser Redpoll and the Common Redpoll. But I think it is the former.
