MONO MONDAY

It's MonoMonday and the challenge, as I understand it, is to take a faceless selfie. If you look carefully, you will see that 1) the photo is monochrome and 2) there are no faces anywhere to be seen in the photo. I refuse to take selfies as I am opposed to them on general principles and the fact that said image might tend to incriminate me.

We're at Road America again for the two-day Electrathon and Super Milage event for high school students. As indicated, there's events for all electric vehicles and events for fueled vehicles.
~
All vehicles are constructed totally by students in classes they take but they are advised by adults for obvious reasons. They even have to solicit sponsors to defray their costs of production.
~
Results for this year will not be known until the conclusion of tomorrow's competition, but the winner in the high milage event will undoubtedly get 300-400 miles or more per gallon.

Original Blip: typical "vehicle" built for super milage

EXTRA 1: a couple of the boys from the local electric team investigate a "short" circuit somewhere. You can see by their clothing that it's bloody cold out there....made worse by the fact that today the temperature is more than 40°F. cooler than the weekend. Thanks, as always, to those generous Canadians who regularly share their cool weather with us thanks to a polar vortex which sweeps down from the north like a tidal wave of cold air.
~
EXTRA 2: Part of the braking "challenge."  The vehicle must maintain a radar checked speed of 15mph to the start line and then must brake to a full stop within a certain distance. Many were having trouble getting it done.
~
EXTRA #:  One of the Super Milage vehicles on the track making a specified number of laps. The winner is judged by how quickly the laps were achieved and how much fuel was consumed in the process.
