Betwixt and between.

The title refers to an Alium coming up in the middle of the purple primula (?) (I looked it up late afternoon and it’s Primula Wanda. An old variety.)
The sunshine arrived mid morning as we were walking to the Bistro in Sutton Park for a coffee.
Cherry trees in bloom everywhere.
New fresh green leaves on a lot of deciduous trees. A gentle breeze today.
As we were drinking our coffee a friend of ours popped into the Bistro to purchase some for herself and her friend, as they were sitting at one of the outside tables with our friend’s dog.
We had a chat and a brief catch-up.
She was the one who made Stephen’s fabulous 70th birthday cake. https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2937702491187316457 Here she is with him and the cake.
It transpired that her mum had just died (yesterday) in hospital. It was expected but as with all of these occasions, there is so much to organise immediately.
The numbers to the funeral were limited to 40, as although her mum was very ill, she was diagnosed with Covid in the few days before her death. It made the funeral arrangements more complicated.
We walked down to Blackroot Pool to where I watched two Canada geese shepherding their young brood.
As I stood on the path by the edge I became aware of a large swan swimming towards me.
I moved back as he actually uttered a sound like a bark and was obviously very agressive. He then swam towards the geese offspring and looked as if he would attack them.
There was a fight went on then with several other geese coming to head off the swan, with great commotion and panic.
Myself and another guy on the bank were quite concerned that the little ones would be attacked.
In the end one of the parents moved with the brood further along our of reach.
There was no sign of any other swan so it was to be assumed that there is a nest somewhere in the vicinity.
Then it was time to walk home again for lunch.
I took the washing down from the line, as I’d put another load in earlier on, and it was lovely and dry.
Trying to get ahead with jobs before we go to Winchester on Friday, for the wedding on Saturday.
