The Woodland Garden (Saturday 23rd April 2022)

The plum blossom is over now, even the sapling in the patio, but next to it the bramwell apple is now in bloom. The crab apple tree is also blossoming at the moment.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Betty Harris - Ride Your Pony (1968)
Sticking with Robert Plant's recent shows on Radio 6, I of course knew Lee Dorsey's original from three years earlier, but I only really knew Betty Harris for her version of Cry To Me, which was also recorded by Solomon Burke but I think it was hers that inspired the British cover by the Pretty Things. Ride Your Pony, like the original, was produced by Allen Toussaint, who wrote the song, in New Orleans, with himself unmistakeable on piano, and probably with other members of the Meters.
