47 Years And We Meet Again

One of my favorite teachers, Mike Weston featured here in his school archive was my German teacher at A level when Ilived in the Netherlands.  It was 47 years ago that I last saw him, and after 50 years he is still at the school, though he gave up his position of head of German after 27 years and became the school archivist.  His sense of humor and fascinating life was a tonic and such fun to hear about.  And as a bonus, as the archivist, he was able to show us photos of the years I was at the school including one of my speech from the school balcony in my triumphant win as the Lib Dem candidate in a mock election.  Although he is nearly 80, he does not intend to retire but in his own inimitable style told us he wasnt prepared to leave this place until they wheeled him out drooling and making no sense anymore!
We actually made the trip to the British School in Voorschoten on our bikes again - a proper Dutch cycling experience probably 95% off the main road and on the dedicated cycle paths - a trip of 13km and the fastest way to get there bar stealing a car.  L had a lot of soreness from not being used to the cycling and so I have arranged transport for tomorrow's trip to the Keukenhof.
We finished the day with a meal made up of left over veggies done in a cheese sauce and some Frikandellen and Frites from the site snack café.
I would tell you what the Dutch nickname is for Frikandel, and it would very adequately give you an idea what these Dutch style sausages look like, but I may not be allowed on blip anymore.  If you are really keen to know you will have to PM me.  Relaxed at the end of the day with an episode of Noughts and Crosses.
Extra is of L taking photos of lambs
