Soldiers and Sailors...........

..............one of the many rather quaint names for Pulmonia - "Lungwort" - small evergreen, hairy leafed perennial plants which can be seen in many Cottage Gardens. Other names are: Spotted Dog, Joseph and Mary, Jerusalem Primrose and Bethlehem Sage!
It is a little odd in that it has blue, mauve and pink flowers all on the same stem. Each little flowerhead is no more than 1/4 in. across. I thought mine had surcumbed to the hard Winter but I suddenly noticed them again today - I swear there was absolutely no sign of leaves or flowers 10 days ago!

Weather is very dull and cloudy today - a great change from yesterday, windy and a little bit colder. Temperature is 12 deg. C.
