Great Black Backed Gulls #51

A very lazy morning after a long lie-in. We were at the one star Michelin restaurant Rogan & Co for lunch today in Cartmel and it was absolutely delicious. I'm still not 100% sure that it is worth what you pay for it, but it's a lovely experience with fabulous food. Everything was just perfect and not one thing was left on the plate!
We came back and I dropped everyone off and headed out to RSPB Leighton Moss for a few hours. It was lovely and quiet with hardly any people about and I managed to see/hear 51 species in the 3 hours I was there. I was hoping to see a bittern, but they were too busy booming across the marsh to show themselves :)
This pair of huge Great Black Backed Gulls were taking centre stage on the island in front of the Causeway hide and hopefully they will be successful in their breeding efforts. They are our largest gull and can be quite vicious defending their chicks and territory.
