GREATER KUDU

This is a Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros); female.  A woodland antelope, its native habitat is throughout Eastern and Southern Africa.

It is likely the largest of the African antelopes. Males can weigh up to 600 pounds (273kg); females 450 pounds (204.5kg).  This one lives at the zoo in Milwaukee.

The population is stable and is of least concern with respect to extinction.
