Celebrating Peter

The reason we are here at this time is to attend the celebration of Life for friend Peter  who died last November. ( last august  here. )    We’ve known Peter and Cathy  (blipper Islandcat) since we all first bought here in the early 1990s.  Many good times.  Building, rowing sailing.......
It rained all night and all morning, but was just dripping when we headed off at 1:00  in our rain gear to walk the 1+ mile to the fantastic garden Peter built.    Peter loved music and was an artist with the guitar. The blip was supposed to be this friend with the guitar and another gal from the Island with her violin but she at the last minute caught the ugly virus so Cathy’s brother who came out from Ontario stepped in with the ukulele for  a lovely rendition of The Leonard Cohen song “Anthem” with Cathy.   Not sure who the dog belongs to … liked the music I think.   Then lots of stories and poems from many.  The hard worker and the lover of arguing,  Then some more music with another talented island violinist.  Excellent job of "MC" by Cathy's daughter.  By now the sun had come out!  In time to sing Hallelujah!    and it was so great to talk with islanders we haven’t seen in a long time. As well as Cathy.  All good.    Snacks and drinks.   (I was supposed to be the event “photographer” but didn’t manage one picture of the food. ! )
These sorts of speeches not my thing so here is my My haiku for Peter.
Creator.  Woodsman.
Aqua Man. A Darn Good sport.
Rest in Peace, Peter.
(accompanied by an old photo of Peter coxing our quad …..because he was such a good sport, not because he wanted to.    We miss him .
