Now, as I see it......

Invergarry Castle

We were up at 4.15am to catch the ferry back to Scrabster.  Once we were back on the mainland we set off for our next destination, Fort William.  I'd planned to stop at the Glenmorangie distillery on the way but the shop wasn't open on Saturdays, so we carried on.  We hadn't intended going into Inverness but I felt I was in danger of falling asleep driving so we went into the centre and had a wander round the shops and a strong coffee.  Our route then took us the length of Loch Ness and the Great Glen, and on the way we stopped off at the Caledonian Canal and here, Invergarry Castle.

We arrived in Fort William too early to check into our B&B so had a wander round town and frankly, were rather disappointed.  It looks very shabby and quite run down; we both wanted to use the 'facilities' but both public toilets in town were closed and locked; someone told us it was because vandals had wrecked one and set fire to the other.  We are here for three nights and the countryside around is magnificent, but I don't think we'll be bothering with the town again.  We checked in to the B&B and it is lovely; a couple of miles south of the town with superb views over the sea loch, Loch Linnhe, and our room is huge, modern and really comfortable.  The owner has six acres of hillside woodland behind the B&B with a woodland walk which we did to get some fresh air on arrival.

We won't be going far tonight.  We've showered and are now relaxing with a drink in the room, and have got a DVD from the owner's collection.  I have a feeling we won't stay awake long enough to watch it.  Oh, and I've added an extra of the river in Inverness just because I liked it.
