Day 9 of the A - Z tour of cornwall 'J'

Today we are back in Cornwall and have resumed our A - Z tour of the county. Todays letter 'J' didn't give us too many places to choose from.

One of our friends suggested a little place called Jangye- ryn Cove which she went to for her own Alphabet challenge.

We knew it was close to Gunwalloe Cove but didn't know exactly where. We stopped off at the Halzephron Inn for a bite to eat and some directions. (Any excuse eh!!) The food here was fabulous (quite possibly the best food so far on our challenge) and it was quite busy for a little pub in the middle of nowhere. After getting some directions from the bar maid we continued along the narrow road until we reached the national trust car park.

Jangye- ryn Cove was just opposite the car park. It was a small pebbly beach which the waves were crashing in on. It is sometimes known as Dollar Cove as people have discovered silver dollars occasionally washed up here from the wreck of a seventeenth century Spanish galleon ship.

From here we carried along the path to the small church and Church Cove. Here we tried our hands at stone skimming, but failed miserably. After wandering across the beach we decided to head back to the car and drove back towards Truro and up to Malpass. It was much more sheltered here and we sat in the sun and enjoyed a nice cold drink whilst overlooking the River Fal.

I do enjoy our days off.
