On Some Days

Mothers Day

Today is Mother's day in New Zealand and Switzerland  Sandra tells me.  Just by chance the coffee table flowers are the last of the roses in my garden and this rose is called My Mum.  I put them in this little jug that was my mothers.  I always liked the roses around it even as a child.  Flowers must be in my DNA.  No prizes for guessing who the photo is of.  I think I'm thirteen so that would make mum/Jessie fifty three.
It started out sunny but has now clouded over so hopefully we will get some rain tonight.

Hymn To Her         By Meg Keene        Sung by Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders

. . . I dress as your daughter
When the moon becomes round
You be my mother
When everything's gone

And she will always carry on
Something is lost
But something is found
They will keep on speaking her name
Somethings change
Some stay the same

Keep beckoning to me
From behind that closed door
The maid and the mother
And the crone that's grown old

I hear your voice . . .
