Handsome Git:)

First full day and we were up quite early and off our round the corner to the cafe sitting outdoors for coffee and croissant and people watching. Decided we would get the tram along the river side to Foz. As we trundled along the rails we went from sun to fog! It didn’t matter really it meant we could walk fast along the pier and the wild Atlantic Ocean was next to us. The seafront that had some pretty horrendous concrete monstrosities calling themselves hotels, really awful compared with the beautiful old building behind. Ugh!

Popped into the public toilets (very very clean with an attendant costing 20cents). She then took me up to show me the old originals which were still pure with and decorated with beautiful decoration of blue flowers.

We reached the parque we were aiming for and to see this modern sculpture called she rises but what with the fog and the ugly buildings behind it didn’t merit a photo…

Lunch was healthy today. A pineapple and mint drink and a yogurt fruit and granola bowl. Followed by a shared roast chicken baguette.

We decided to get the bUs back and I asked the Portuguese gentleman at the stop if this was the right stop for town and he replied in English and turns out he worked in Cardiff on the ships as a civil engineer travelling also all over the world. He was now a window cleaner and when I asked him where he lived he said the sea life centre and I hoped he meant a house near it not a rough sleeper. He told us he worked through the last democ having to get a piece of paper for the police so to be legal. We chatted for ages and the. We noticed we didn’t have change of 4€ for the bus (well not enough) and he gave us money to make it up. That was so nice of him. A lovely kind man.

Went to the modern Casa da Musica where this pic was taken on the steps. It’s a beautiful modern classic building.

Walked to the Palacio Cristal for views over the river and the. Walked back to the apartment.

Meal at night was a local modern tapas cafe and again , delicious!!
