In the picture

A very sad start to the day, with a text letting me know that a friend has passed away. Not entirely unexpected, but upsetting all the same, and he kept drifting into my thoughts throughout the day.

Mostly pottering in the 'yard today, tidying, deadheading, and re-potting. The two tomato plants and the chilli are now in much larger pots on the kitchen window sill.

Neither MrM nor I could face cooking this evening, so we decided to go down to the Royal Oak in Alnwick for a carvery meal. Then a walk along the coast from Newton Steads to Low Newton, where we were planning to pop into the Ship Inn for refreshment before walking back. No luck, they were closing the doors as we arrived. It shuts at 8.00pm on Sundays...
It was a fabulous walk though, with good views of Dunstanburgh Castle (extra) as we approached Low Newton.
